Adelaide University beat rivals UniSA 2-1 for the second time in 2018 to give Milan Ivanović’s men a vital State League 2 win.

Ayoube Hassine scored on his return to the team and Mo Al Azri netted for the third game in a row.

The derby victory comes at the right time for The Blacks, who have only registered three points out of a possible 15 in the their last five league matches.

While sitting seventh on the State League 2 table, they are only seven points behind new league leaders Adelaide Cobras.

The Blacks play three times in the next 11 days against top four opposition, starting with Cobras on Tuesday night at University Ovals.

Reserves derby abandoned after referee manhandled

Adelaide University is expected to be given the win after the State League 2 reserves derby was abandoned just before half time.

After being sent off, a UniSA player engaged in a physical altercation with the referee. The attack forced the abandonment of the fixture with the score at 0-0.

Under 18s school opposition

The Adelaide University under 18 men bounced back from their Round 4 defeat to UniSA, with a comfortable win in the reverse fixture.

The Blacks shared the goals around with Christopher Adams, River Klass, Jack Duxbury, George Hristodoulou and Sam Garden all scoring in the 5-1 win.
