Under 17 goalkeeper Mikayla Lorenz will train in Europe next month after being scouted to participate in the Joeys Mini World Cup.

Lorenz, in her second season with AUSC, is the only female goalkeeper chosen for intensive training with German clubs including SV Elversberg and FC Frankfurt.

The coaching clinics will see her learn from some of the world’s best, including former Australian Socceroos’ 1974 World Cup coach Rale Rasic.

“It would be my ultimate dream to play for Australia one day,” 14-year-old Lorenz said.

Lorenz will travel to Europe as part of a mixed Joeys side and will celebrate her 15th birthday abroad.

It is not the first time she has travelled overseas for sports, the goalkeeper has been to Fiji twice to take part in a South Australian Regional Girls Program.

The Joeys Mini World Cup is a competitive tournament in which elite players are selected to travel to Germany to join and train with professionals in the country.

Some of the participants will also be given the chance to set up future playing opportunities in Germany.
