State League 2, Reserves and Under 18
Adelaide University Soccer Club is an emerging powerhouse in the South Australian National Premier Leagues competitions.
Born in 1936, we have been a pivotal and influential presence in South Australia’s football landscape for many decades. Described as being ‘a sleeping giant’ in terms of opportunity and capability, we re-joined the State League 2 competition in 2017. We last featured in SA’s equivalent competition back in 1983.
Our coach in the first two seasons was former Socceroo Milan Ivanović. In 2018, we started our first Under 18 men’s team, testament to our growth and expansion from three boys teams in 2015 to nine in 2017.
Raffaele Frisina took the reigns from 2019 and in 2020, was named the State League 2 Coach of the Year and led our first team to its first finals appearance. In the same season, the Reserves team led by David Cope, finished second in the league and won through to the grand final. Danny Arancio’s Under 18 team achieved its first-ever finals appearance, but was narrowly knocked out by eventual grand final winners Pontian Eagles.
2020 marked the most successful season yet for the Adelaide Uni State League men’s group.
The 2021 appointment of former Adelaide United player Michael Matricciani as our State League head coach and boys technical director, showed our ambition for long-term success for both our State League squad and our junior boys program and pathways.
This led to an outstanding and successful season, with all three teams winning the league championship and being promoted to State League 1!
