Six soccer pitches will feature at Adelaide University Sport’s new West Beach Playing Fields which opened in October.
After the re-development of the playing surface, it will be the first time in more than 25 years that the ovals will be used.
The 13 hectares will be used for cricket fields in summer and soccer pitches during winter. The cricket pitches have been purpose built so the pitches lie in between the soccer fields. There will be the capacity to host other sporting codes on these fields.
The AU Cricket Club and AUSC will use the space as a spill over venue as the North Adelaide fields are at capacity. The fields will also be available for use by the local community and clubs.
The University of Adelaide has leased the fields on Tapleys Hill Road from the Adelaide Airport for the next 20 years.
AUSC will have access from January 2017.
