AUSC 5 (Fiona McDonald, Amber Pacheco 2, Paige Selby 1) Jaguars 1
A new-look D1 side were determined to stamp their authority on an Adelaide Jaguars team that had won D2 the previous year, and in the end dominated from start to finish.
Paige Selby continued her goalscoring run for AUSC by notching the first goal of the season then hitting the crossbar with what would have been an early contender for free-kick of the year. Debutant Amber Pacheco notched her first goal just before half time as the team headed into cruise control in the second half, with Pacheco grabbing her second and AUSC life member Fiona McDonald finding her scoring touch with a brace from midfield.
A solid start for a team with big expectations in 2016.
AUSC 1 (Naomi Princi) Elizabeth Vale 1
The women’s Division 2 season started with a minute of silence in memory of a member of Elizabeth Vale’s Club.
The game showed the early stages of the season as both teams fought a midfield battle. Adelaide Uni’s Naomi Princi scored within 20 minutes of the match only to be countered 10 minutes later by a Vale effort.
The second half was a frantic give-and-go switching of possession with the game ending 1-1.
AUSC 3 Para Hills East
Div 5 Had a wonderful start to the season with a win by forfeit over Para Hills East… Disappointing way to win a game but looking forward to their first game this Sunday.
