“I love large parties, they’re so intimate. At small parties there isn’t any privacy”.
Gatsby cried incredulously that ‘of course’ we can repeat the past – so we’ve recreated another epic Blacks pub crawl.
Join in The Great BarSpree on Saturday July 6, starting 6pm at The Hackney Hotel.
If it’s anything like the last pub crawl, ‘people disappeared, reappeared, made plans to go somewhere, and then lost each other, searched for each other, found each other a few feet away’.
This time we’re anticipating bars ‘in full swing, and floating rounds of cocktails permeate the garden outside, until the air is alive with chatter and laughter, and casual innuendo and introductions forgotten on the spot, and enthusiastic meetings between women who never knew each other’s names’.
Festivities will kick-off at The Hackney Hotel from 6pm. Come a wee earlier if you want a feed. When you’re standing on the balcony at The Hackney, you’ll be able to see the green traffic light that burns all night at the end of the Hackney Bridge.
Apparently ‘it’s a great advantage not to drink among hard-drinking people’, but it’s a pub crawl, so there are no rules.
Guys, beautiful little fools – you’re all invited to The Great BarSpree, The Blacks’ mid-year soirée.
